About
Bilekahalli is a small locality in Bangalore located off Bannerghatta Road. It is spread across 4.24 sq km area. Earlier, the region was a farmland with a village setup in the backdrop. The village which it was before had at most 400 to 450 houses with agricultural lands all around which gave rise to rice, vegetables and ragi.
Initially, the city was limited to JP Nagar 3rd phase. However, later Bilekahalli was considered to be a part of the city. The area has seen a dramatic change since the establishment of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in 1973. In and around IIM, there are many companies like Honeywell Technology Solutions, IBM, Accenture, Softech and Oracle. Many hospitals can be seen near the area like Fortis, Apollo and Vivekananda hospital. The stretch is booming with upcoming malls, shopping centres, food joints and restaurants.
The region is surrounded by adjoining areas like Bommanahalli, BTM Layout 2nd Stage, Arekere Gate and MICO Layout. Some of the bus stops nearby are Vijaya Bank Layout, Kodichikkanahalli, Devarachikkanahalli, Bilekahalli, Bilekahalli Veerabhadra Swamy Temple. It is just 13 km from the Kempegowda Bus Station (Majestic Station) and Bangalore City Railway station and 49 km from Bangalore international Airport.
The total population of the area is 22510 with male population of 12050 and female is 10460. The sub localities which come under Bilekahalli are Shanbogh Nagappa Layout, Btm Layout 4th Stage, Sri Satya Sai Layout, Rotary Nagar, Kuvempu Nagar, Vijaya Bank Layout, Sri M Vishveswaraiah Colony, Muneswara Layout (p).
Real estate in this part of the city has seen an uprising factor due to presence of many IT companies and hubs. Many prime hospitals and recreational centres have come up in this area.
