About Anna Nagar
Anna Nagar is one of the areas in West Chennai. It was formerly known as Naduvakkarai. It comes under the Egmore-Nungambakkam taluk and is named after the famous Tamil leader C. N. Annadurai. The area boasts of many residential projects and plots. This is one of the fastest growing parts of the city.
The area was developed in early 1970s by the Tamil Nadu Housing Board. It has risen as one of the most expensive and busy commercial hub of the city. This locality was the first one to follow standard addressing system which is followed in many foreign countries.
Anna Nagar is connected to other parts of the city by a large network of roadways and railways. It lies in the west of George Town, locality situated in the centre of the city. It is approximately 6 km from the city centre. It is accessible with rest of the localities as it has a local railway terminal.
The town has many blocks which starts with individual alphabets like block A or with combination of two alphabets like 'AD', 'AF', 'AG', 'AL', etc. It is divided into two parts- East and West. Popular landmark located at Anna Nagar East is Visweswararya Tower Park near Y block.
Some of the educational institutions in the close proximity are Kendriya Vidyalaya, Leo Matriculation and Higher Secondary School, Krishnaswamy Group of Schools, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, etc and few industries nearby are Avanor Systems Pvt. Ltd., Eco Tech Software Pvt. Ltd., Pegasus Software, Palpap Software, Launch Pad, Astra Infotech, L-Cube Innovation Solutions, and Precision Software Communications.
Chennai Airport is the nearest airport to Anna Nagar which is located at Meenambakkam at a distance of 10 km. The nearest railway station is Chennai Central Railway Station which is located at a distance of 8 km.
