Apartments without Waste Disposal Units Will Not Get Clearance
Solid waste management unit is mandatory for large apartments. City Development Authorities like Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) in Bangalore, are making it mandatory for large apartments to install solid waste management.

Bangalore alone generates 3000 tonnes solid waste in a day and these wastes are disposed in five solid waste management plants around the city. These plants are only getting wastes of 1200 tonnes a day, much less than their combined capacity to process 3400 tonnes a day. Rest of wastes is dumped by the roadside, empty sites or tank beds.
Installing solid waste management plants in apartment in not an alien concept, it takes 1% of built-up area and 1.5% of investment. On-site solid waste management is installed by some builders and developers for apartments in past few years. Apartments with solid waste management units can give manure manufactured from unit to farmers and nursery in and around their neighborhood.
