Baner located off the Katraj–Dehu Road Bypass is a suburban area of Pune in India. The Mumbai Pune Expressway is connected by Baner road. The suburban area is covered by Balewadi to the west, Pune University to the east, Pashan in south and Aundh towards north.
Baner located towards the western side of Pune was once in the outskirts of the city. With the rapid urbanization, the area has been merged into Pune. During the 17th century rulers from Kalamkar family of the Mali caste inherited Baner.
The area is famously known as "Baner Hill" as Kavaji Kalamkar a famous ruler built a temple of the goddess "Tukai Mata" on a hillock near Baner. Today, Baner being occupied by various IT companies has been covered by residential and commercial hubs.
The real estate sector at Baner is slowly showing growing standards with the establishments of IT sectors. Covered by greens all over, this remains as a peaceful residential spot of the citizens of Pune having a close proximity to Baner-Pashan Biodiversity Park.
