Badlapur is one of the developing suburbs near the Mumbai city. It lies under the district of Thane. The locality is developing at a fast pace with people working in Mumbai moving to Badlapur for a living.
The place was so named because the travelers used to take the Konkan- Gujarat route via Surat. Badla means change in Marathi and pur was added as suffix to give it a new meaning of town or village.
