Kandivali is one of the suburbs in Mumbai city which also has a railway terminus of the same name. It comes in the route of Western railway line.
The area was earlier conquered by the stone age inhabitants. After 1980s, the semi rural part rose with real estate entering the area. Many residential projects started coming in. The railway station in the locality had the name Khandolee which was similar to Khaan meaning mine in Marathi.

Earlier in the 1990s, the post office was located in Fonseca Compound on Akurli road in the eastern side near to the railway station. Then later it moved to the Samata Nagar.
