Ration cards to go digital
Till date, the district administration has collected only 29% data as there are about 7.50 lakh card holders in the rural area and 8.50 lakh in the city. So far they have collected details for only 5 lakh cards.
The data collection process is going very slow but they are going to speed up and complete the collection in the next four months as said by a senior official of the food grain distribution office (FDO).
Just like a digital driving licence, every ration card holder will get a computerised card. All the ration cards will have details about the card holder and a unique code saved below. The government should be able to entry this review on the web when needed.
The digital ration cards will maintain transparency and also help to find out fake cards. The civic body has appointed two agencies to upload the data. The agencies will directly upload the data on a main server. The agencies are uploading information of about 3,000 card per day. The agencies have been requested to publish every week report to check the work progress.
Recently the administration has canceled around 2.17 lakh cards because of fake and wrong information.
