MCD directed to stop encroachment onto footpaths

Due to encroachment of illegal shops on the roads and pavements in South Delhi, it makes difficult for the pedestrians to even walk.

For this, the Delhi High Court has directed the MCD to shut down all the illegal shops which have encroached onto roads.

The illegal encroachment has led to traffic congestion in some parts of South Delhi like Jangpura, Bhogal, Pant Nagar and Defence Colony.

Such shops which have been issued license before will be given a show cause notice.

The order came into being after Jangpura Residents Welfare Association and Flyover Complex Welfare Association filed a petitions against such shops.
