About Dadri

A major town in Gautam Budh Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh, Dadri is an upcoming city moving towards urbanisation and adopting modern infrastructure. Coming under the umbrella of the NCR, the development of Dadri has been moving at good pace. With world-class industrial hubs, Noida and Greater Noida as its neighbours, many multinational companies have set up large-scale industries in the region.

Industrialisation is at the forefront of Dadri's development, as it especially aims to answer all of North India's power problems. Naturally, the economic structure of the town is vital not only to the town or district, but also at the national level.

Apart from the developing nature of the city, Dadri also has a festive spirit. Every year, between October and November, the town of Dadri plays host to Kartik Poornima, one of the world's largest cattle fairs, along with Pushkar Fair and Sonepur Fair. The fairs draw about a million people, and are famous for livestock trading.

Stats and Facts

● The population of Dadri, according to census 2011, stands at 91,189.

● The sex ratio in Dadri is tilted in the favour of males, who occupy 53.5 per cent of the total population.

● Dadri has a literacy rate of a shade over 62 per cent, according to the census report of 2011.

The Industrial Sector

● The industrial sector in Dadri is booming, thanks to the large number of power giants who have set up base here, and launching new power plants.

● Dadri National Capital Power Station (NCPS) has a coal-fired thermal power plant and a gas-fired plant. This monumental power station caters to several industries, as well asinfrastructure projects such as Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, a railway traction substation at Dadri Railway Station, and two massive cement industries.

● Reliance Energy is currently building a 5,500 MW gas generation power plant in the town of Dadri. It is intended to be one of the most advanced gas-fired generation plants in the world. It aims at solving the power supply shortage in northern India.

● The KGS Group has set up a first-of-its-kind energy-efficient plant at Dadri. It is fully automated and has a low carbon footprint in comparison withother plants in the country. Also being the largest production facility in northern India, the plant provides a wide range of green products to maintain the infrastructural growth around the region.

● Dadri is very well connected by National Highway (NH-91), which passes by this town and connects to key cities nearby, like Ghaziabad, Sikandrabad, Noida, and Bulandshahr.

● Dadri Railway Station has a regular flow of trains and can be easily accessed for long-distance travel.

● Dadri doesn't have its own airport. The closest airport is Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, which is about 58km away.

● Among the newest transport infrastructure projects in the NCR region is a green-field expressway that links Ghaziabad to Dadri, as recommended by National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB).

● Once the eastern freight terminal becomes operational, Dadri will transform into a major goods transport terminal.

Dadri Civic Administration

● Dadri comes under the Gautam Budh Nagar district administration, in Uttar Pradesh.

● Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) shoulders the responsibility for the overall development of this town city. The nodal agency was established under the Uttar Pradesh Industrial Area Development Act, 1976.

● The city comes under the Gautam Budh Nagar Lok Sabha constituency as well.

Dadri Infrastructure

While the state of physical infrastructure in Dadri is sound, the landscape is dominated by industrial infrastructure. After development of the NCR region, numerous industrial houses sought Dadri for setting up their factories and plants due to the vast availability of land and its strategic location in the northern part of India.

Dadri Real Estate

● With such a large presence of industries in Dadri, the workforce has increased substantially in the last few years. To meet the growing residential demand, many developers have started building integrated townships.

● In 1988, National Capital Power Station (NCPS) set up the world's largest power plant in Dadri, to meet the demand for power in NCR. The NCPS also set up a 500-acre township for its employees. The township is equipped with markets, two shopping complexes, parks, a sports stadium, schools, and hospitals.

● While the NCPS township is fairly old, Shri Infratech Vedic City offers a more modern approach to city living. Spanning 580 acres, this township has all the modern amenities like 24 hours power backup, recreational facilities, and security.

● With hardly any IT and commercial activity, the real estate sector has not seen much growth over the years. Not many builders and developers have opted for constructing apartment complexes in Dadri as the demand has been low. As a result, majority of the residential properties in Dadri are layouts and plots. There is a possibility, however, that this demand might increase; in which case, more apartment complexes are likely to come up in this industrial town.
