Getting rid of a beehive

A bee flying from one flower to another is enjoyed by all. Beehives are terror because one small mistake can result in serious consequence. It is recommended to seek professional beekeeper assistance to get rid of beehive. Beekeeper is a person who keeps bees for the purposes of securing commodities such as honey, beeswax, pollen, pollinating fruits and vegetables.   Here are some of the things you can try  to get rid of a beehive.

  • Find a local beekeeper: This is one of the best and safest methods to get rid of beehive. Find a local beekeeper to remove beehive from your building or apartment. They will remove beehive free of charge to add to their collection. These days professional Pest Control companies offer this service as well.
  • Smoke: Smoke makes bees to move their hive and you can remove hive quite easily. Burning sugar makes a lot of smoke but could leave smoke damage if used indoors. Incense in large volume has been successfully used indoors. Constant smoke will cause bees to move their hive. After the bees leave hive, remove the hive from your building or apartment.
  • Soap and water Solution: It is an effective method to get rid of a beehive. Soap dissolves the bees waxy exterior while  protecting them from drowning. But this method needs caution and need professional assistance if beehives is larger or beyond your control.
  • Killing bees: This method is not recommended unless beehive removal is impossible. Spray the hive, at night when the bees are home, with a chemical bee spray to kill the honey bees. Killing the bees should be done only as a last resort and only if it is legal in your area.
  • Eliminate attraction for bees: Bees are attracted to your garden or around your apartment due to various reasons. Eliminate the attraction for the bees if they have not made a hive on your property. Eliminate the open water source (like leaking Tanks or open fountains) to prevent building beehive in or around your property.

Applying insecticide on Beehive

The best time for get rid of bees of beehive is late afternoon when all bees are back in the hive. It is better to seek beekeeper assistance than killing bees. Killing bees must be last resort.

Put protective clothing that covers all your body. Apply insecticide through opening of the hive. Make sure you read instructions and apply the insecticide as per direction. When you fairly certain bees in the hives are dead, remove hive and place them in large garbage bag. Secure the bag and dispose accordingly. If you feel it is too risky or difficult to handle the issue, seek professional who can carry out the work safely. Beekeepers are best person who can help you to get rid of beehives. They will take bees and beehives from you free of cost. You can seek your pest control company to destroy beehive.

If you are attacked by Honey Bees

If you are attacked, get into a building or car and closing the door is the best defense. Never attempt to approach bees if you are allergic to their stings. When a bee stings, it leaves a detectable scent marker that attracts more bees to sting. Once bees start stinging, they can get aggressive and the attack could quickly escalate.

    Occupied. More information can be given if any interest in eliminating this is evinced
