Aadhaar card linked to gas cylinders from Feb 15
According to the sources, as per the scheme, initially a subsidy amount (Rs 1,031) will be deposited by the oil companies in customer’s bank account before the supply of gas to consumer (without booking). This amount will be deposited only after the Aadhar number is provided to oil companies by the consumer.
When the company comes to know that cylinder is delivered to the consumer, the subsidy amount for the next cylinder will be deposited in the bank account of the consumers. Thus, total nine cylinders will be delivered in a year for which companies will deposit nine subsidy amount.
Since there were only few Aadhar card centres in the city, police force had to be called due to huge rush of people. Such is the situation at Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupati and other towns in the state. Thus, Chief Minister requested the centre to extend this scheme for two more months in few areas and directed officials to open new centers.
In Hyderabad and Secundrabad, more than 50 percent of residents are not issued Aadhar cards. Many among them have applied and have submitted their photographs and biometric information also. Few people have not registered their bank details with the LPG dealers.
People are complaining that many Aadhar cards are still not distributed from post office. There is shortage of application forms and staff at centers. The applications downloaded from internet is not accepted by the staff members of centre. The entire process of applying for Aadhar card is very time consuming. Thus brokers are taking advantage of this situation and charging high amount for completion of process.
Government expects favourable decision from center in this regard.
