Basins for your Bathroom
A perfect style of wash basin adds to the appeal of your bathroom. There are several basins one can opt for in a bathroom. These are of five genres; semi recessed basins, vanity basins, above counter basins, under counter basins and wall basins. Various basins can be installed with more than one tap hole.
A bathroom basin can be either hung, set on a pedestal or set into joinery. The materials used in the production of a wash basin are a blend of clay mixed with fluxes and fillers fused together. The main component in the making of a basin is vitreous china which is burn, scratch and stain resistant.
Wash basins can be elegantly designed from marble, brass, porcelain, ceramic, stainless steel, aluminium, stones and glass and can be painted or designed artistically as well. These are also movable and contain a mirror attached. A wide variety of designs and shapes vary from bowls to vanity sets, ambulance wash basin, bird bath basin, flower shaped basin and so on.
Bowl basin: These types of basins are mounted on a cabinet or set on a counter top. These are installed with the use of large screw fix brackets. The shape of this basin resembles that of a salad bowl which can be carved in marble, stainless steel, temper glass bowl, vanity glass bowl, granite bowl, mosaic bowl and plastic bowl basin. The bowl basin is installed on a much higher height when compared to other basins. A bowl basin can have qualities like easy to grip feature, absence of a tap hole, can have double bowls, dirt-proof, high density, water-proof, stain and scratch resistant, colourful, artistic and can be customized.
Wall hung basin: These types of basins are apt for a simple look and ambience. The basin is hung on a wall with the support provided by large clamps and screw fixes. Installing this basin in a limited space is a better idea. As they are hung on the wall, these tend to be smaller and have no storage space unlike other basins. Depending on the size and weight of the basin it is advised not to hang them on a wooden frame stud wall. If the basin is made out of a solid heavy material, it is apt to install a mounting board to the wall and then attach the basin to the board.
Pedestal basins: This basin stands on a slim base known as a pedestal. The pedestal is hollow which acts as a support and hides the plumbing of the basin. The pedestal can be cylindrical or taper and depicts an elegant style and grandeur. These type of basins lack storage capacity. These basins are not apt for regular use and can be installed in places to blend with the architecture. A pedestal basin can have not more than one tap hole with different faucets.
Corner Basins: Typically used in places with less space, these basins can be installed in a corner with the use of clamps. It is ideal for a cloakroom and other small rooms. The plumbing of this basin is conveniently hidden or concealed in the wall or a box. Corner basins usually are produced in small size and are shaped according to the corner wall. They are made up of stainless steel or marble.
