Vaastu is the science of directions that combines all the five elements (earth, water, air, fire and sky) of nature and balances them with the man and the material. Choosing Color for Your Room
Some colors will have certain impacts on the mood of person. Colors can make you active, dull and some colors will have neutral effects. The following colors are considered auspicious or recommended by Vaastu.
- Red: Red is the most dramatic, emotional and active color. It is used in those areas where one needs excitement, warmth and elegance. It should not be used in bedrooms because of its energizing quality.
- Blue: Blue symbolizes relaxation and is a cool color. This color is recommended for bedroom, meditation room or for room designed for relaxing or sleeping.
- Yellow: It is a powerful color, both light in value and extremely intense in its purest form. It evokes a sense of energy and excitement. It stimulates the brain and recommended for all rooms where brainpower is used such as study room, office etc. This color is not recommended for rooms where sunlight enters directly to the room. For Pooja room, yellow color is perfect.
- White: it’s an elegant color and looks good when combined with other colors. This color is recommended for ceilings where the light reflects and brightens the room. This color can be used in north-west bedroom.
- Green: It brings harmony, good and healthy environment to the room. Green color is good for study room as it rejuvenates the ideas. Green goes with every other color and makes it a natural neutral.
Vaastu Guidelines for Colors and Direction
Vaastu colors differs for one person and another depending on their sun or moon sign but color on the basis of direction seem similar as it is recommended by considering the planets and direction of the room. For instance, North rooms can be in light hues of green. West rooms can be Grey, South rooms can be in shades and hues of red. The rooms in South-East rooms can be varied or mixed colors. South-West rooms can be all Greens. North-East rooms can be in shades and tones of yellow like cream. North-west rooms and East rooms can be white colors.
Vaastu recommends to avoid colors like brown, dark blue, black and grey in study room and rooms were you want to be active because these colors make lazy and may cause frustration and depression.
- Light color is recommended for small rooms as these colors make your room seem larger and brighter.
- Dark colors are sophisticated and warm color that suits best for large room. They give large rooms a more intimate appearance.
- Generally, ceilings that are lighter than the wall color feel higher, while those that are darker feel lower.
