- Open curtains to let sunlight in your rooms.Ultraviolet rays kills virus and helps to keep your home safe and hygienic.
- Make sure air conditioners and coolers are cleaned regularly and ensure the circulation of fresh air in the room.
- Areas including floors where children live and play must be cleaned well and disinfected daily. Keep their toys clean and hygienic.
- Make sure that water is not left standing in the garden after watering the plants. Provide a system that will drain out excess water.
- Discard used tires, old buckets, tins cans, and used appliances that lying in and around your apartment or in your backyard.
- Avoid having thick shrubs and dense vegetation as this offers dark spots where mosquitoes generally breed.
- At home, mosquitoes usually breed in water storage tanks, large water drums, flower vases, near potted plants, ornamental pools and fountains, and water containers of pets.
Keep your home free from mosquitoes which transmit dengue, chickungunya, and malaria. Ensure that drains are covered and regularly cleaned. Since many mosquitoes breed in standing water, source reduction can be as simple as emptying water from containers around the home. Environmental hygiene will help to ensure a healthy living environment reducing the risk of infections and their transmission.
