One of the best ways to keep dust away from home is to keep your home clean!
Dust forms a major part of our home and our home is a dust magnet. Dust is attracted and is generated through countless sources. One of the major problems in a home is the production and the dissemination of dust all around.
To eliminate dust from our homes completely is quite a challenging task; in fact 90% of the dust in our homes comes from fabric and people. The dust also includes the body flakes which are dropped by humans. Adding on to it are the clothes, bedding and furnishings producing ample amount of dust.
The dust and the flakes which are dropped out of these objects float in the surroundings on the slightest air current and settle on every surface in the home. Dust not only messes the home but also causes various health problems. In order to avoid all these here are a few steps to keep the dust away;
Always keep the closet floors clear:
Closets are the main dust reservoirs with full of tiny fibres from fabrics, towels, bedding and other items. Each time a closet door is opened, a whip of invisible dust flows out and spreads all over the room. You cannot avoid the clothes from shedding the dust and hence, always ensure that you keep your closets clean and locked.
Lock up the occasional clothes:
The clothes which you rarely wear shed ounces of dust. Make sure that you lock them up in cupboards or cover them up with plastic cover to avoid the dust from being accumulated on it. Doing this will help you keep the clothes safe as well as avoid the settling of dust.
Use plastic containers:
Having plastic containers to store all the items in your home is one of the best ideas. Plastic containers lock fibres inside and let the dust out. They are also easy to clean and wipe.
Keep the closet floors and corners clean:
It is very important that you keep the closet floors and other related surfaces clean as usually the closet floor is cluttered most of the times. Have wide closet floors which will avoid the settling of dust and will also make it easier for you to clean.
Rotate your bedding every week:
A bed in your room is one of the major causes of dust accumulation. The bedding in your room collects ounces of dust on the surface as well as under it due to the shedding of skin flakes. Apparently, every time you move around or give a puff of air, the dust rolls all over the floor. To avoid this you should wash the bedding twice a week and replace with the fresh ones. Apart from just washing you can also spank them outdoors and put it in the sun for few hours.
Accumulate the dust:
Avoid spreading the dust all over your room and instead, try capturing the dust through damp rags and disposable cloths. They attract dust and keep the dust intact. You can also use electrostatic charged equipments. Also use the vacuum attachments on hard surfaces like a wood and so on.
Dust the rugs and doormats outdoors:
It is always better that you dust fabrics outdoors take all the carpets, rugs and other floor related materials outdoor and spank them with a thick bamboo stick. Avoid having a wall to wall carpet as this accumulates a lot of dust. Vacuum your home regularly. It is advisable to use a bamboo stick to spank away the dust rather than vacuuming. Follow this routine every day to keep the dust away.
Spank your cushions outdoors:
Make sure that you take your upholstery fabric outdoors twice a week and clean it away from dust. Having a vinyl or leather furniture will avoid dust accumulation. Also vacuum vertical surfaces regularly and make use of an old tennis racket to beat up the cushions.
