Affordable housing projects coming up in Greater Noida, Yamuna expressway
To cater to the housing need of lower middle class families, the Greater Noida Authority and the Yamuna Expressway Authority are both set to develop affordable housing units in their respective regions.
While Greater Noida Authority is planning to build 10,000 affordable flats near Sports City, the Yamuna Expressway Authority is planning to build 5,000 flats in Sector 10.
Both the authorities are planning to launch the projects next month after the approval of Master Plan 2031. It is expected that the construction of flats will start in December this year and are likely to be completed by the end of 2015.
Recently, meetings had been conducted by the two authorities separately with their senior officials during which the decision was made. The authorities are looking to float tenders in this regard in the next two months.
The projects aim towards lower middle class buyers, who cannot afford costly homes in and around the district. Once the project is completed, these homebuyers will be able to buy their own homes in the region. The projects will offer units in a very affordable range compared to previous affordable housing schemes by these authorities. Approximately, the units in Greater Noida project would be priced around Rs 6 lakh to 7 lakh while the Yamuna Expressway project is likely to be priced even less.
Some of the officials of the authorities revealed that the floor area of the proposed affordable flats will be approximately 30 metre square. Each building is planned to have four floors.
The authorities have also planned to offer better civic infrastructure in these affordable housing projects by developing schools, parks, playgrounds, commercial complexes, parking, community centers and health centers in the region.
