Celebrate Easter in Your Apartment!

Easter is one of the chiefly celebrated festivals among the Catholics all over the world. This feast is celebrated with great pomp and show universally with different beliefs and religious values. The religious significance behind this festival is that, this was the day of Jesus Christ’s resurrection, which signifies anticipation among various virtuous things. Also this day is celebrated to mark the re-birth of spring and salutations to spring.

Generally, this fiesta is celebrated on various dates from March 22 to April 25 all over the globe. Also this celebration is based on various calendars like the Gregorian Easter, Julian Easter and the Jewish Passover. Various Christian countries consider this day as a public holiday.

Easter egg

The main mascots of this festival are the ‘Colourful Eggs’. Eggs are a vital representatives of this festival as they represent the new beginnings and the seed of life and thus the great “Easter Egg Hunt” is held everywhere. It is a game wherein colourful, artistically painted eggs are hidden in various places for children to find them. Apart from eggs, the Easter lily also captures the glory of the day. Baskets and boxes of candies are distributed among the children, which are traditionally believed to be delivered by the Easter bunny.

Since we have spoken all about the significance and the origin of the Easter festival, let’s have a peek into the various ways in which one can celebrate Easter festival in their apartment.

Volunteers: The apartment’s association should select few members who will be volunteering during this festival. As there will be various events held, having volunteers will help on a greater extent.

Invitations: Prior to the eve of the Easter festival, a person can take up the initiative of making a list of all the invitees in the apartment. Once the list is ready, choose a relevant design for e.g.; an Easter bunny, Easter lily or the picture of colourful eggs for the cover page of the invitations. Make sure to invite everyone and let them know about the importance of the festival.

Choose an appropriate place: Since this festival has to be celebrated in an apartment, the place selected has to be easily accessible and should acquire a large number of people. The place should be spacious enough for the decorations and the rituals to be followed. If the apartment space is not sufficient for the egg hunt, one can organize the event in a park or a public ground. This will also be spacious and comfortable.

Easter egg hunt party: One of the most important rituals of this festival is the Easter egg hunt. In order to organize this egg hunt, one has to make an order of innumerable eggs and paint them with the help of the apartment members before the eve arrives. Egg hunts can also be based on various themes. The eggs are hidden in various places for the children and the people to find them. The eggs can also be made out of chocolate wrapped with the foil paper.

Magic shows: Another entertaining event that can be held during this festival is the magic show. Children and adults get fascinated by the magic shows performed at any event. This would be one of the perfect ideas to celebrate the festival.

Face painting: Apart from the egg hunt and the magic show, one can also organize the face painting competitions in your apartment. This activity can be theme based and one can paint their face like that of an Easter bunny and so on.

Nature jaunt: since this festival is nature oriented, you can organize a nature trip, bird watching, trekking or tree identification.

Easter Goodies: It is a tradition on Easter day to send Easter baskets with Easter goodies. Various bags of goodies containing the replicas of the Easter bunny and the chocolate eggs can be given to the children to take it to their home. Kids enjoy getting Easter baskets that contains both toys and sweets.

Prizes for the winners: Every event held naturally has a winner. In order to appreciate and honour for the efforts it is nice to award the winners with prizes or other pertinent things.

Easter delicacies: An array of foods can be prepared on this occasion. Delicacies like hot cross buns, Easter story cookies, Easter confetti, ham, roasted asparagus, dinner rolls and the most prominent; Easter turkey can be prepared by each member of your apartment during the celebration.
