Importance of lighting in an apartment
Create a classy ambiance with latest fashioned and highlighted lighting in your apartment. Spaces like ceiling and walls can be embedded with lights. Here are some ideas on how to make the most of lighting in your apartment.
To get the maximum effect:
Make the area brighter by using down lit lamps, casting shadow on the floor. The ceiling should be dark or should be mounted with up-lighters which reflect the light of the ceiling and hence make the room look brighter.
To make it look spacious:
Wall sconces can be used to make the room look spacious as they do not take much space and can easily blend with the wall color. These lights can be easily controlled by a lighting circuit which allows you to turn all the lights in one go.
Areas to be accentuated with lighting:
Lighting for your bedroom: Avoid having down lighters above the bed as they create abundant glare. Opt for a wall sconce mounted slightly above your head and shoulders to avoid shadows. A table lamp is not a bad idea.
Lighting for your kitchen: The work areas in the kitchen should be highlighted with halogen down lighters. The lights can also be clipped on to accentuate the beam areas near the sink. A kitchen with dining room can have a medium sized chandelier/pendant lights as the main light.
Lighting for your dining room: Avoid having hoards of lighting on the diners and instead have down lighters which aim straight on the table surface rather than the diner’s face. A chandelier can serve as a main light and wall sconces mounted above the eye level can be great too.
Lighting for your living room: Most of us who would like to watch television in the dark should be careful that it strains the eyes. Avoid straining your eyes by positioning a light near the television. The light shouldn’t reflect on the screen and should shade the viewer’s eyes. Having down lighters in the focal point of the room is not a bad idea.
Lighting for your bathroom: Ceiling down lighters are suitable for your bathroom in order to avoid splashes. To create a candle effect, you can set them to a dimmer shade. Avoid having dim lights in your bathroom if there are children or older people who need clear light while using the bathroom.
Tips to remember;
Use conventional lighting directed downwards and up lighters to diffuse light to create a more subtle effect.
If you wish to have lighting all over the room rather than just a confined space, use free standing lamps.
The floor lamps are also recognised as standard lamps and are available as up lighters, spotlights and down lighters in modern as well as traditional style.
Opt for light saving and touch sensitive lights.
