Moving into a new home? Here are a few things to do
Your expensive dresses, chinaware and furniture are tightly wrapped and packed carefully along with your favorite mound of books and all the other belongings. Just few more hours and you will step into your new home leaving behind the older one as empty as a cave. Perhaps your biggest worry would be unpacking all your possessions. Well, the excitement of entering into a new home allows us to forget the few most important things. What are they? Read further to find out.
Make your new home pest free:
It is always better to give a fresh start to your new home. There are few important things to do in and around your new home before you shift. Firstly, hire a pest control company or set off a bug bomb around the home. Although you might not see many pests or rodents due to the absence of grub, it is safe that you get rid of them before your stuff arrives.
Deep cleaning:
After the pest control in your new home, harsh chemicals and pesticides tend to remain in the nook and corners. In order to remove it away completely, give your new abode a deep clean. Use eco-friendly cleaning solutions to wipe the counters, shelves, window panes, kitchen cabinets and other areas. Have the shelves and counters covered with fresh newspapers. A cleaning service agency can be hired as well.
Inspect all your belongings:
Making a list of all the belongings will help you sort them out quickly while getting them off the truck. Once your belongings are off the truck, refer your list to ensure that everything has been delivered safely. Open the cartons to check if all of your wares have survived the move.
Install window treatments before moving in:
Although installing window treatments might take some time, it is very important that you do it before unpacking your stuff. Do the window treatments only for the most essential rooms.
Meet your neighbours:
Once you are done unpacking, take your kids and go around for a stroll. Meet your neighbors and have a chat with them. Get to know about the area and surroundings from your neighbours. Also ask them about the amenities and the domestic staff availability.
