Railway Budget 2014: Bullet Trains will soon be a reality in India
The maiden railway budget of the Modi Government has been laid before the speaker today. The Minister of Railways, Sadananda Gowda, presented the budget by highlighting the requests for new trains and the objectives for his railway budget for the year 2014 – 2015, which is to make railway a commercial enterprise with people’s welfare as the main motive. And finally the long awaited question “Will India get its first bullet train during this year’s budget?” was answered.
The railway minister said that the first bullet train is set to run between Ahmedabad in Gujarat and Mumbai in Maharashtra.
This will immensely help the commuters between these two commercial centres and will drastically boost the real estate value in both the cities and along the corridor. Further, this will also reduce the the traffic snarls between these cities. The diamond quadrilateral train network , also proposed by the minister today, will work in parallel to the bullet train helping the commuters go through the important cities in India.
However, the ambitious project raises a question in everyone’s mind. The already existing onion crisis is unresolved and the central government is unable to persuade the state government of Maharashtra to release the hoarded onions due to the difference in the government parties. Will they be able to persuade them to get the nod for the bullet train? Well, let’s wait and watch!
