The Friendship Day celebration was promoted by the founder of Hallmark Card; Joyce Hall in the year 1919. This event is celebrated on the first Sunday of August by sending cards and tying friendship bands as a symbol of friendship. 
Apparently, this day was promoted in order to promote the greeting cards and eventually lost the significance in those countries. However, various parts of Asia still retain the celebration in an enthusiastic manner. The ambassador for friendship day is “Winnie the Pooh” (Cartoon character). Apart from just celebrating through bands and cards, it is also celebrated online, on social sites and henceforth each country celebrates this event on the first Sunday of August on different dates.
