In case if you notice ant changes, immediately seek the help of police. One has to constantly check if the doors and the windows are locked.
Outdoor lighting: Make sure you leave the lights open outside during the night. This makes it convenient for you to view the movements outside and night and will also keep the burglar away.
Windows: Always install semi view windows wherein the person from outside is unable to look through inside and you can view the outside. Installing such type of windows will help your home give a lived in. A lived in look in a house will avoid the robber from coming closer or targeting your home thinking that there are too many people residing.
Home alarm: Theft alarms these days are a common sight in every house. Installing this will make your home secure from robbers. In some cases when a robbery is hatched the home alarm can be disconnected by an accustomed person in order to carry out the theft. The owner has to vigilantly keep a check if the alarm is functioning properly.
Avoid an empty and dark home look: As mentioned earlier, one has to give their home lived in look so as to avoid the robber’s attention. Burglars tend to target empty and dark residences and plan up a robbery when there are signs of piled newspapers, filled mail boxes and unclean surroundings. If you’re leaving your home for few days make sure you stop the delivery of the newspapers and others. Also one can slightly slide away the drapes and keep the lights on in few rooms before leaving. Setting up a clock alarm is also a perfect idea to make people feel you’re at home. Installing a motion sensor that triggers lighting is also a better idea.
Avoiding home invasions: This is one of the serious crimes committed in today’s day. Burglars force themselves by invading in your home and leaving you helpless. Firstly, one has to install solid core doors with heavy duty locks and window security devices. Stay alert and lock all the doors and windows each time and use the peephole before opening up the door upon someone’s arrival. Avoid the use of a chain latch to partially open the door and do not open the door to any strangers and always keep your neighbours informed when you move out or inside your home.
Avoid dense bushes near the entrances: One has to be wise enough to not plant dense bushes and trees closer to your home openings like doors, windows and balconies. Thick bushes or greenery makes it easier for the robber to hide and give access to higher windows and the entry to your home. Make sure the trees or the greenery is not covering the windows.
Garage and store houses: if you have a separate garage and a store houses away from your main residence, make sure you keep them locked. Loose shutters and doors will result in theft and will also provide shelter to the robbers. Apart from seeking shelter, a thief might also make use of the tools lying in the garage to break open the doors. If you notice ant loose openings in and around your home, replace them immediately.
Avoid a lavish display of luxuries: Most of the robbers target homes which have luxurious items being visible from outside. Also people tend to place their worthy spare items in the terrace attic and outside their home; this gains the robber’s attention. One should install windows which do not lure the robbers to enter your residence.
Be alert with whom you share your information with: Do not completely rely on people around you or leave your complete contact details and personal information with someone. This will lead to a chaos. Also make sure you discard all the personal information from your garbage and dispose it.
Do not be too predictable: One of the first steps a burglar follows is to keep a keen vigil on your daily routine. Your consistent daily routines and schedule will make it even easier for a burglar to complete his task. In order to avoid being burgled, you can change your daily routine by coming home early or leaving late. Also most of them tend to hide their spare keys in predictable places, avoid placing your keys in such places or hand over the keys or responsibility to someone whom you trust completely.
