About Kharghar
Kharghar is one of the suburbs present in Navi Mumbai and is developed by the CIDCO. The authority has taken the charge of maintaining it. It is basically a newly developed area with many residential and commercial spaces around.
The development of Kharghar started in 1995 and till date it has many ready to occupy and developing projects for commercial and residential purpose. This has made Kharghar the third most developed suburb under Navi Mumbai after Vashi and Nerul. It is located a hour drive far from Mumbai and is situated on the Mumbai-Pune highway (NH 4).
Kharghar comes under the Raigad (Navi Mumbai) district and is spread across 35 square kilometre. After the whole construction phase, the area is going to have 14 townships and Khargar will be one of them. It is being constructed for a population of 500,000.
It is divided into 45 sectors and has 12 village settlements under it. One of the main landmarks in the vicinity is National Institute of Fashion Technology. One of the major companies, Siemens India Ltd has its office here.
Some of the educational institutes in the vicinity are Appejay School, Bal Bharti public school, Ryan International, DAV International, AC Patil College of Engineering, Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Architecture, Saraswati Institute of Technology, Y.M.T. Medical College of Dentistry, Ayurvedic and Homoeopathy, Saraswati Institute of Technology and Y.M.T. Medical College of Dentistry, Ayurvedic and Homoeopathy.
It is at a distance of 45 km from Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus and 40 km from Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport.
