10 Tips to Organize your Kitchen

You should consider changing the decorative items with the changing season. If the kitchen counter is full of unnecessary things, take time to sort them out. Don’t try to organize an entire kitchen all at once. If you have children, ensure that your kitchen is a kid friendly kitchen. Start kitchen organization by putting items into categories. Organizing a Kitchen can be a fun and an incredibly easy task with following tips.

  • Make a list: Make a list of items such as rarely used items, daily used items, items used on festivals or special occasions etc. Look around your kitchen and make a list of your top complaints about the room. If you haven’t used any items in a year, get rid of it.
  • Clutter Free: Clutter free kitchen definitely saves your time and gives you an organized kitchen. Create extra storage space by using cabinets, Drawers and Pantries. Hanging storage provides a look of loft and country style to the kitchen with clutter free appearance. Racks will also help to make your kitchen clutter free and provide your kitchen loft or oriental style.
  • Wipe away stains: Remove and reorganize the contents of your pantry, then clean the door and shelves before putting items back. Wipe away food stains and scuffs on the fronts and sides of cabinet doors. Take the time to clean up items inside your cabinets, too. Dust your spice rack and pitch outdated food items.
  • Create a cooking zone: Create centers of activity and store related utensils as near as possible to where they will be used. Place all your baking dishes, pots and pans as close the stove as possible. Create a cooking zone around the stove, storing pots and pans as close to the range as possible.

  • Replace items: If you can afford a replacement, replace things that don’t work. If you can’t afford a replacement now, put it on a list and replace them when you can afford one.
  • Putting items into categories: Categorize items such as storage containers, plastic cups, dishes, glasses, etc. The Junk Drawer is the enemy of good kitchen organization. The best way to organize this drawer is to pull it out and sort. Replace with only items that go in the kitchen.
  • Clear the counter: The counter needs frequent cleaning and it is your primary workspace. Try a kitchen island to organize your kitchen. They look stylish and in some cases look very much a piece of furniture. Portable Kitchen Island is easy to store things and you can store it under your kitchen countertop.
  • Cleaning items: Create a house cleaning schedule for cleaning a kitchen. Store related utensils near such as Soap, gloves, dish pan, drying rack, cleansers, towels, etc. Keep a trash can handy, plus recycling and compost bins, too. They should go near the cleaning and food preparation areas. Liquid hand soap is more hygienic than bar soap and there’s no slimy soap dish.
  • Place things: Organize according to how traffic and activities should flow. Knives need a special place all their own. Store items that are used together near one another. Put rarely used items up high or in the back of cabinets and more frequently used items within reach and in the fronts of cabinets. Hang aprons, pot holders, and dish towels on pegs at least two feet away from the stove. Cookery book or recipe books are fine on open shelves, so long as they are not exposed to humidity and grease. Use lazy susans for spices and frequently-used baking supplies. So easy to access and keep organized.
  • Wire baskets: A hanging tiered wire basket can also be a great way to decoratively store bananas, onions, potatoes and other food items. You can also make it a snap for kids to grab snacks on the go with see-through wire baskets.
