10 Ways to keep your bathroom clean and odour free

Clean BathroomBathrooms are prone to bad odour, especially the ones that have attached toilets or damp terraces. Things can change very quickly if you have a smelly bathroom that stinks like a trash corner. We tell you 10 ultimate tips that will help you eliminate the bathroom odours in quick time.

  1. Place Potpourri Can: Potpourri is an effective way to deodorize the bathroom. Different versions of the potpourri can be used and hidden strategically. You can stack them behind your lavatory seat or on the top of the window sill. You can camouflage the damp odour by placing them inside your shaving cabinet as well. Coffee bean pouch can also be used effectively to veil the bad odour. You can use scented air fresheners and air purifiers as well to eliminate bathroom odour.
  2. Use Baking Soda: Easiest way to keep your bathroom space free from any bad odour is to place a 50 gram Baking Soda packet on the shelf. It is a deliquescent substance that absorbs moisture from the air and neutralizes the odour.
  3. Exotic soaps and shampoos: We love the fragrance of the exotic soaps, shower gels and the shampoos. Other than giving you a refreshing experience after a bath or a wash, they also play a big role in keeping your bathroom free from odours.
  4. Keep scented towels and napkins: Stash the napkins and towels onto the shelf after spraying them with your favourite perfume. You can use the floral fragrances as they tend to sterilize the bad odours effectively for weeks. Never spray your wet towel with the perfumes as they may stain the fabric. The best thing to do is keep a separate napkin sprayed with the perfume especially for this purpose.
  5. Spray deodorants on your body in the bathroom: Easiest activity to ensure odour-free bathrooms is the spray the deodorant on your body in the shower area itself. It will keep the bathroom blooming.
  6. Keep the drains clean: Hair, dead skins and even wrappers can collect oily grime and clog your drain. A clogged drain is a major source of bad odour in the bathroom. Clean your drain every day and do a full plumbing screening of the drainage every 6 months to ensure odour free living.
  7. Don’t dry your clothes inside the bathroom: Drying wet clothes, especially the undergarments inside the bathroom is a big No. They not only cause foul odour in the bathroom, they also become the breeding ground for the microbes, owing to poor exposure to sunlight.
  8. Keep the ventilators open: Ventilation is important to eliminate the issue of bad odour in the bathroom. Keep the ventilators open when you are not using the space. Netted ventilators keep your bathroom safe from the pests, insects and foreign bodies.
  9. Sterilize the floors regularly: Sterilizing the floor with disinfectants and cleansers ensure that the bathroom is free from germs and microbes. Choose the disinfectants that have lavish odours like lavender, musk and rose. They will keep your bathroom blooming like a garden.
  10. Keep the floors dry: Most home owners overlook the importance of a dry bathroom. The damp walls and floors can lead to accumulation of dust, dirt and grime. They are serious stinking sources, especially when they are left unattended for days. Sweep and mop away the floor regularly with plastic broom. Use soft cloth to wipe off the damp walls.
