Approval For Construction of Over 2 Lakh Houses Under PMAY-U

The 48th meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) on Friday has approved 371 recommendations from participating states and Union Territories for construction of 2,31,532 lakh houses with an overall investment of Rs 7,322 crore including central help of Rs 3,473 Cr.
Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs wrote in its latest statement that the total number of houses approved under PMAY(U) is now more than 93 lakhs.
A total of seven states/UTs participated in the CSMC namely Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Puducherry, and Uttar Pradesh.

The state of Uttar Pradesh, collected late only after March 2017, has total approval for 14.50 lakh houses so far. It is clear that Uttar Pradesh is the front runner in both overall sanctions of houses as well as houses approved under Beneficiary-led Construction Scheme which is currently 12.56 lakh houses. The state also holds a leading position among northern states for the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) which is an interest subvention part of PMAY(U).
As of now, PMAY(U) mission has reached the milestone of approving more than 93 lakh houses under PMAY(U) upon the approved demand of 1.12 crore houses. A total of 55 lakh houses are set for construction of which construction of more than 28 lakh houses is complete.
Durga Shanker Mishra, Secretary, MoHUA said that the investment in approved houses is Rs. 5.56 lakh crore which comprises Rs. 2.82 lakh Cr as Public Sector investment while Rs. 2.74 lakh Cr from the Private Sector. Out of Rs 1.46 lakh, crore Central support approved, a total of Rs. 57,896 Cr has been issued to the States/UTs so far.
