Back to School-How to prepare kids for school
Vacations are the time for fun, family get-together, and relaxation. While on vacation children often get off schedule. They forget what it means to get up on time and get ready. It becomes difficult for parents to bring their children back on routine after vacations get over. However it will not be so stressful if parents follow these below mentioned tips in last 10-15 days of vacation to bring children back into routine.
Early to bed, early to rise: During vacations children lose their schedule of getting up early and going to bed early. It’s important to bring them back on schedule at least a week before school, so that they won’t have any trouble when school starts.
Re-establish meal time: Children don’t follow any routine for a meal while on vacation. They eat whatever they get and whenever they want. It’s essential to bring their meal time on track.
Keep discussing school with children: Don’t let school slip out of your child’s mind. Talk to him/her about their school, which friends they are looking forward to meet, what they are planning to do when school re-opens.
Keep in touch with friends: Plan some days during holidays where your child meet his/her classmates, so they don’t lose touch with them and are excited to meet them in school when it re-opens.
Encourage to read books and play mind games: Encourage your child read books and stories of their interest. This will reduce their averseness to school books. Play with them some mind games which keep their brain active.
School shopping: Prepare a list of stuffs your child will need when school re-opens. For Eg., books, stationery, school uniform, new bag, lunch box etc. Let your child be a part of this shopping. This will remind them of their school re-opening and at the same time make them excited about school.
Getting your child back to school after long vacations need not be stressful. Parents just need to remember to stick close to their child’s normal routine, keep their school in the fore-front of their mind.
Even once school starts, make their weekends enjoyable and fun-filled. School re-opening doesn’t mean the end of the fun.
