BDA flats to Bangaloreans:10 years in the making
The maiden attempt by the BDA (Bangalore Development Authority) to address the long-standing concern of ‘housing’ in Bangalore has revved up, as the authority allocated low-cost flats to a number of Bangaloreans. In addition to it, improved water supply was also made public by the BDA.
Experts predict that poll anxiety may be one of the primary reasons behind such an effort by the government. Irrespective of the real cause, the move can always be termed as a boon for the Bangaloreans, especially when infrastructure is not at par with the growth of the city. Allocation of low cost BDA flats is expected to taper off the housing gap in the city, significantly.
Configuration
In a move to put a nip in the bud of the rising housing crisis in the Silicon Valley of the nation, flats have been built for low-income group (LIG), middle-income group (MIG) and high-income group (HIG), inclusive of 1, 2 and 3 BHK amenities.
Such a step has been taken by the government after consulting with the BMRC, BBMP, BWSSB and BDA. As per market sources, around 6000 apartments are ready to be allotted, out of which 3000 will shell out in the first phase. In an attempt to make the allotment process more transparent, the government has adopted a lottery system to select the beneficiaries.
Kempegowda Layout housing project
The Kempegowda Layout housing project is one of the latest initiatives taken by the BDA to deal with the long-lived housing issue of Bangaloreans. More than 2000 acres have been acquired by the BDA to shape up apartments for the lower-income groups in the layout. Experts are of the notion that the Kempegowda Layout will mirror the famous Arkavathy Layout Scheme.
Works on the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout has also hit on the double, after getting a green signal from the government. Furthermore, the BDA has scheduled a meeting to call in for tenders, for the construction of drains, major roads, culverts and other infrastructure that is considered the first move to invite applications from people.
