Hyderabad: Bowenpally also known as Bowinpally is a suburb of Secunderabad. The neighborhood is predominantly a middle and upper middle class suburb. It is part of the Secunderabad Cantonment area, which wan under the sway of the British for several years. The old village of Bowenpally along with its people-friendly streets still exists. Amongst the sundry ancient structures still standing is an old shrine with some rough bull sculptures fashioned with a distinct Kakatiyan design, located near the Bowenpally Police Station. Bowenpally is a juncture which connects various parts of the city.
The au courant locality of Bowenpally has evolved into a a sprawling suburb of Secunderabad. Bowenpally is stationed just north of the single 0927 (east–west) runway of the Hyderabad International Airport. The airport is a prominent landmark for the locality as well. The two national highways: NH 9 (marked as “Pune Road” on the map) and NH 7 (marked as “Nizamabad Road” on the map) merge at Bowenpally. The area serves as the gateway to the city from these two highways.

Bowenpally has a post office, police station, hospital, library, schools, electricity department and a park all of which are located in close proximity to each other on the NH7 highway, towards Medchal. The Indian Air Force Academy and recruitment for both technical and non-technical trades is also located at Bowenpally, on the way to Balanagar from Bowenpally.
Culture and Recreation
Popular Hindu temples within the area comprise Sai baba Temple, Sri Venkateshwara swamy temple, 7 Temples (Edu gullu), the very famous Tadbund Sri Hanuman Temple, Dattatriya temple, Siddhidhatri Dhurgabhavani Temple, the ancient Lord Siva Temple situated behind the Post office, and Sri Ganesh Temple. The popular Indian gym known as Jai ram Vyayam Shala was established in the area during 1950.
Kalyani Theatre is the sole cinema theatre to be constructed at Bowenpally. However the location of Bowenpally proffers easy access to various other popular cinema halls as well as shopping malls. Tivoli cinema, Anand cinema are located within a radius of three kilometers from Bowenpally. Movie complexes and malls are being constructed, and the pipeline holds the completion of other infrastructure works as well.
A few locally renowned restaurants serving various kinds of cuisines ranging from multi-cuisine, tandoori and Chinese, to continental. A legion of dhabas which serve economical and delicious authentic Punjabi food are located along the stretch of Medchal Highway NH7 which is also known as Nizamabad Road.
Commercial Area:
Hyderabad’s second largest Government-owned vegetable market – the Market Yard, is situated close proximity of Bowenpally. Recently, More, Reliance fresh, Reebok, Spencers etc, have established their own retail outlets across various places within Bowenpally. The areas of AWHO colony and Bapuji nagar stand out in having sundry shops and ATM’s. There are numerous national banks such as Bank of Baroda, SBI, SBH, HDFC Bank, ING Vysya, ICICI and Union Bank of India, have their presence here.
Transport:
Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) operated numerous buses such as 26,26N,26M,26S, 26M/229 which ply from Secunderabd Station to Old-Bowenpally, connect Bowenpally with different parts of the city.
Other special buses like 26/8C,26/5R, 49M/26 etc, ply during the office hours. Additionaly, 24E/31H also stop at Bowenpally bus stop. The MMTS Train station located at Fatehnagar is the closest MMTS train station which serves Bowenpally. Peak traffic conditions are usually observed throughout the day. The Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) is contemplating a new plan to install a traffic signal at the Center Point and Diamond Point Irani hotels to ease traffic congestion within the area. More over, the Cantonment is also planning to widen the roads to ease the ever growing traffic.
The proposed Metro line between Raj Bhavan and Miyapur will have stations at Dilkushnagar, which is situated about two kilometers from Bowenpally, has further increased the interest of investors. A well-laid bypass which leads to Bowenpally is ready and many more connectivity options have also been planned.
Realty Trend:
Within the first quarter of the 2012 fiscal, the upper range value of Bowenpally was Rs. 3,550 per square feet; the average range value was at Rs. 3,450 per square feet while the Rs. 3,300 per square feet was calculated as the lower range value. Comparatively within the first quarter of 2013, Bowenpally’s upper range value was Rs. 4,400 per square feet; the average range value was at Rs. 4,200 per square feet while the Rs. 3,950 per square feet was calculated as the lower range value. On the basis of this comparison, the Highest Locality Price of Rs. 4,400 per square feet is up by 4.3 per cent, the Average Locality Price of Rs 4,200 per square feet is up by 6.7 per cent and the Lowest Locality Price at Rs. 3,950 per square feet is also up by 10.2 per cent.
Another most important and positive factor of buying property in Bowenpally is that the properties generally have clear land titles. As the land chunks were directly purchased by the builders from farmers and the villagers initially. During the times when acquisition problems arose in other places, Bowenpally kept developing successfully.
