Check your Cauvery credentials before buying a flat
Are you planning to buy an apartment in the remote areas of Bangalore? If yes, there are few important questions you should ask with your builder;
– Will there be a supply of Cauvery river water by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) in the apartment?
– Has the builder deposited any amount in this regard with the water board?
– If yes, what is the amount deposited? and how much you will have to pay?
It necessary to check your apartment’s Cauvery credentials as BWSSB’s Cauvery project many not benefit all localities. It is occurred that in an apartment complex, some blocks are provided with Cauvery water while the others in the same complex are deprived of it.
In 2005, the BWSSB started collecting beneficiary capital contribution fund (BCCF) from builders to raise capital for the project. However, the fund collection had been stopped and has resumed now. The project is expected to be commissioned in November.
It has been revealed that various developers had included the BCCF in the flat cost. While some others asked the flat owners to pay the amount separately to the board, in some instances, the same being included as deposit towards utilities like water and electricity connections.
Some builders in areas like HBR layout and others have included the cost of water and electricity connections in the cost of the flat. It is said that if a flat is purchased comes under the area with Cauvery water connection, BCCF will be paid by the builder. If not, the home owner will be provided borewell water and from private tankers.
