Chinese firms to set up manufacturing cluster in Gr Noida
Few Chinese companies are planning to invest in the industrial sectors of Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway. They are aiming to set up a manufacturing cluster in the belt, revealed official sources of the UP government.
According to the sources from Udyog Bandhu, the industrial development wing of Uttar Pradesh government, the Chinese delegation visited the Indian handicrafts and gifts fair (IHGF) at India Expo Centre and Mart, Moser Baer unit, Knowledge Park-II and the Gautam Buddha University. The delegation included key representatives from the China Development Bank, Department of Asian affairs in ministry of commerce and Chinese manufacturing biggies such as ZTE, Huawei and Haier.
Many corporates interested in Noida
Industry experts believe that not only the Chinese firms, but also many corporates are interested in investing in Noida, due to the Knowledge Park, which can boost the IT sector as well as educational sector too.
Huge employment opportunities
There is an IT Park proposed in the Knowledge Park, which alone would be generating around 1000 employment opportunities for every one acre investment. The Park is planned to be developed on nearly 5,000 acres of land. Already, three phases of the Park have started functioning while the fourth and fifth are likely to be started soon.
The local residents are expected to be benefited highly with this large scale development offering numerous job opportunities and various business options too.
Chinese visit seems to be useful
Surya Pratap Singh, the Principal Secretary of (Industries) infrastructure and industrial development department opines that this visit by Chinese delegates is a productive result of many rounds of interactions and presentations on the existing and upcoming infrastructure facilities available in the state. Apart from the infrastructural support, a mass consumer support as well as readily available raw products was the main draw, he added.
Since no major company has entered Noida region in the last three-four years, any sort of investment is awaited in the region, said Vipin Malhan, president of the Noida Entrepreneurs Association.
If the region succeeds to attract at least one major company from China, then it would be able to offer multiple opportunities for its vendors, he believes. The visiting delegation also focused on investing in the educational sector in Noida, for which the delegates visited education institutes too.
Lack of facilities would be a hindrance
Avadhesh D Pandey, chairman of the Indian Industries Association- Greater Noida chapter also favored Malhan saying that Greater Noida attracting investment by foreign companies is welcome news since this would work as a catalyst to the rate of infrastructural development.
Since there are few challenges with the local authorities in providing world-class support, he said that he would have reservations for the foreign firms to continue here for a long term. He said that there is much shortage of industrial infrastructure like power, transport, sewerage, and other facilities. Though the government is planning to establish Transport Nagar, Mr. Pandey expressed one cannot depend on it until and unless the plan is put into action.
