Factors to consider while buying the End tables for your home
End tables, as their names imply, are tables used to complete another piece of furniture. They are placed on either sides of the sofa or an arm chair. They are the ideal when you want to rest a mug of coffee while sitting down. Not just that; end tables make your room more comfortable and enhance its functionality.
Add a table lamp and some books, and you have a functional as well as an aesthetic appeal. End tables don’t particularly look imposing and more often than not, we think twice about having them. But these pieces of furniture are useful, not to say they add to the décor of our room.
Factors to consider while buying an end table for home
If you are juggling with a modest budget, then you need to figure out how much of use you would find in the furniture and the designs that would go with your finances. If you are installing end tables for your living room, they are usually placed at the ends of the couch. Therefore, you should be clear on how much of available space there is on either side of the couch so you don’t buy tables that won’t fit.
The tables should complement the couch and they should neither be too small nor be too big. Ideally, the end tables should be in level with the arms of the couch. That way you will not be too uncomfortable with unwanted depth issues.
Choosing end tables for smaller room
A smaller room would be more balanced with end tables of lighter shades. They also make the room look bigger. Even getting glass end-tables would make the room appear larger. Mirror accents or tables with an open-shelving or grill design would also be ideal as an open design allows light to pass through and makes the furniture appear lucid.
Choose the style
Choose the style that best goes with your tastes and your rooms design. There are three basic styles of end tables.
Traditional: These are based on the designs of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and are luxurious in nature. They look formal and have an aristocratic appearance due to their perfect finishes and dark woods. There would be intricate designs on the furniture like moldings and spindles and cabriole legs.
Contemporary style: It is ideal if you are looking to get maximum use rather than just the appearance. Ornate details are less and the end tables are usually cut out with rounded corners. The furniture is made from lighter wood and completed with light wood and medium wood finishes.
Country style: It is mostly regional work and reflects certain geographical locations and environments. These are mainly made of wood with milk-painted finishes, stenciled decoration, wainscoting and scalloped aprons.
End tables are versatile in their functions, so before you buy one, you should consider what use you will be putting it to.
Storage tables: Storage end tables come in handy if you have trouble storing your little bits and ends out of sight. It helps keep the room organized and keep the space tidy and clutter free.
Nesting end tables: They are ideal for decorating a small room. Nesting end tables come in groups, minimum two, and they fit underneath one another, so they can be used as one table or separated as per use.
Chair-side end tables: These tables are designed to include a magazine rack, drawers or shelves. If placed at the ends of chairs or sofa they can be used to hold glasses or dishes.
