Fix uneven walls in your home
Uneven walls occur due to moisture, repainting and dents in the walls for years together. All of these elements contribute to each other to form trivial cracks and bubbles on the surface of the wall. Perhaps, we might feel that a fresh layer of paint can hide these uneven layers, but that would be just temporarily and the problem will still persist in the future.
To create a long lasting impact, a lot of preparation is required along with the right tools. Here are some tips;
Major tools required;
Sand paper
Dust sheets
Paint scraper
Make space:
Get rid of all the obstructions around the wall such as furniture, fixtures and others to make space. Ensure that you cover the floor with dust sheets to avoid spilling of paint.
Clear the surface:
Once you have finished removing all the objects from near the wall, clear the rough edges and dents on the wall surface using a sand paper. The paint on the wall should be scraped off with a paint scraper in vertical direction. In case you find it difficult to remove the paint, use a paint remover or varnish which can loosen the surface of the paint for you to clean it easily.
Drywall/POP:
Mix the drywall or plaster of Paris evenly and apply a thin coat on the wall to fill in the dents and holes. Make use of a putty knife to give a clean finish.
Follow the instructions:
As per the instructions on the drywall compound, let the wall surface dry. Once dried, re-sand the uneven area until completely even.
Cleaning:
If the wall has stains or dust, clean the wall with a wet soft cloth or a sponge and ensure that you do not rub too much. This can cause the surface to peel off.
Painting:
Make use of a paint roller to paint the wall. Paint it in a vertical direction and cover the area until smooth.
