Gardening makes you physically and emotionally healthy

There are so many forms of recreation that one can really enjoy doing. Of course, enjoying one’s leisure depends on her/his fondness of a particular activity, age, sex and sometimes social status; those factors play a big role in fulfilling their desire to have something that they can do during their spare time.

For many people, gardening is one of the most famous past time. One may wonder what could be the reasons why people in particular are so fond of getting their hands dirty in the name of gardening. Oh by the way, for those people who have no idea what gardening means, it is the practice of growing plants or flowers for the purpose of consumption or simply for pleasure.

Some people chose gardening because aside from the fact that it protects the environment in so many ways that we can possibly think, it also keeps them outside of their house and encourages them to live a healthy and active life. Who knows you might even get a certificate as a good citizen of this Earth from dear Mother Earth. For sure, that will be a nice bonus that anyone will openly welcome.

Advantages of gardening

Here is one of the facts; we all know that people who live a sedentary life are more prone to stroke, heart diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity; those are factors that can really increase the risk of premature death. Of course, many of us want to live longer because we want to see more of our children and grandchildren. Good thing is gardening and courtyard work will make you lead an active life and it will help you to enhance your endurance, flexibility and strength and those contortions and stretches that you make are really good form of activities that can help increase your flexibility.

The benefits of going around your garden do not stop and not only limited to your physical being, it is also very helpful in developing positive outlook emotionally. There are numerous studies which revealed that gardening help especially those older people to heal emotionally and physically because it provides them an outlet in which they can be able to express their emotions and helps them to communicate with others. Not to mention the added benefits of fresh garden air and sunshine from working outside.

Gardening also stimulates all the senses – which make your sense of sight enjoy the beauty that surrounds you and it can even help you reconnect with your past. According to studies, people who are working in front of their computer with plants on their offices are 12% more productive and feel less stressed compared to those people who do the same job without plants.
