Get creative with mirrors

Mirrors being one of the most prominent and elegant objects used for home decoration have been used since decades to brighten up and make the home sparkle and create the look-through-the glass effect.

Working in as a beautiful decor add on – these beautiful accents can be used for both indoor and outdoor decoration. From creating an alluring look in your garden to working as a beautiful embellishment to your indoors – Commonfloor brings you some creative ideas that you can work with mirrors.

What can you do with broken mirror shards?

One of the best ways to make use of broken shards of mirror is to create a mosaic surface out of it. If you fancy craft ideas and would like to imply it in your home decor, you can use coloured tiles along with broken mirror pieces as a table top or a wall panel.  You can also make a glass mosaic in dark rooms where there is very little sunlight.

What can you do with antique mirrors?

Most of us have antique mirror pieces with spots and stains on it. Take all your antique mirror pieces and hang them in a corner. These mirrors will create a cloudy effect providing time worn elegance. A set of mismatching frames will also give a chic look to your interiors.

Frame decoration:

Usually most of us use large plain mirrors for  home decoration. To make it more attractive you can decorate the frames of the mirrors with colourful seashells, sea glass and driftwood. This will create a seaside charm to your interiors.

Mirror window:

You can get creative and  mount a window frame in front of a large mirror. Additional embellishments like a potted plant or succulents can be placed on a shelf beneath. Creating a window effect out of a normal mirror will portray a window to another world.

Mirror decoration in uncommon places:

Get creative and decorate the walls of dark closets, pantries and cupboards to make them bright using mirrors. One of the best ideas to increase the light in your bedroom is to place a mirror opposite to your window or to place a mirror behind a bed lamp. Doing this will increase the light in the room. You can also use mirrors on a dining table and ceiling surfaces.

Mirrors in your garden:

Create a magical effect in your garden by using mirrors of all shapes and sizes. Place large rectangular shaped mirrors on the walls in your garden. Creating a path towards the mirror heightens the effect and dull walls in your garden can be livened up.
