New housing projects for poor in Urban areas
Availing a house in Bangalore, the IT hub of the country, is a hard nut to crack for a home buyer, especially for the poor. In this regard, the Karnataka state government has come up with Namma Mane, a housing scheme to aid the poor for building affordable houses in urban areas. According to the government scheme, the middle-class and lower class family members can also apply for loans from the banks or financial institutions.
According to government rules, individuals willing to avail the benefits from such a project should get the application forms from the Urban Development Authorities, Karnataka Housing Board and Urban local bodies.
To provide home to the lower middle class of the city, the housing department of the state government has taken a decision to build 2.19 lakh houses this year. 1.12 lakh houses under Basava Vasati Yojane and 80000 houses under Indira Awaas Yojane will be constructed. To add to it, additional 20000 houses will be built for the urban poor.
Motive of the project
According to market sources, the state government has set a target of building 2.19 lakh houses in the present financial year. The 800 crore project is aimed to provide safe drinking water to Chandapura Anekal belt and Karnataka Housing Board Suryanagar layout in the city. Such a step is aimed at resolving the housing issues of the middle class people in the city as well as in the small towns.
Loans for such schemes
Individuals who will apply for homes can avail loans either to build houses or buy one. Almost 2 lakh beneficiaries of the state will be entitled to such benefit by the Central Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Department. According to government rules, a beneficiary can opt for loan valuing between Rs 1 lakh- Rs 1.60 lakh to built houses in urban localities.
With the availability of ample homes for the lower and middle class people of Bangalore, the housing problem of Bangalore will be resolved to a great extent. Implementation of the scheme will offer a helping hand to the deal with the existing housing problems of the city.
