New trends in apartment culture of Chennai
Trends on housing has been changing time to time. Adapting to current trend has never been difficult for an individual at a particular time. Today’s housing trend has been moving towards apartments. Especially for the people who retire and seek a new house to settle in. They find apartments as more secure with every infrastructural features needed for a comfortable life. This practice has become more of a common feature in upper middle and upper class people. Chennai is not an exception for this trend. But since there aren’t any special retirement apartment home projects in Chennai the senior citizen resort to the normal apartments after their retirement.
So where are these post retirement apartments most prevalent? These apartments are largely found in Adyar, a locality in central Chennai, where luxurious apartments are concentrated. These type of apartments starts with a price of Rs. 2 crores and goes upto as high as Rs. 9 crores. These apartments host every amenities a gated community should possess and a lifestyle that anyone can would envy. Apart from Adyar, Mylapore and R.K. Puram are other premium localities where these kind of luxury post retirement houses are more common. 3 BHK and 4 BHK are the available type of segments in these projects. According to the data listing in commonfloor these apartments range between the size of 1350 sq.ft. – 4,700 sq.ft for super luxurious houses. Some amenities which are common in these projects are gardens, swimming pools, 24 hour power backup, maintenance staff, security, intercom, club house, rain water harvesting, tennis courts, badminton courts, gyms, indoor games and spa.
There are few more projects in the south city in Old Mamallapuram road (OMR) and nearby localities to OMR. But these aren’t that popular as the ones in the central Chennai. Other localities in central Chennai which are favourable for these type of apartments are Anna Nagar, T -Nagar, Nungambakkam and Oragadam. All these localities are well connected by means of LRTS and roads. Gayathri Realities, Appaswamy Real Estate Limited, LCS City Makers etc. are some of the developers who are involved in these type of apartment projects.
Growing demand is the sole cause of increase in supply. More of these type of projects are expected to come in the future due to the heavy demand.
