No additional land for layout in BDA area
The Bangalore Development Authority has been in the news recently for notifying excess land for constructing new layouts. However, the state government is not in favor of the appeal by BDA and is adamant of not repeating the mistake ‘again’.
According to government officials, the mistake committed in the past of offering additional land to BDA will not be repeated in the present scenario. The government will re-consider the acquisition process before declaring housing layouts, since BDA has failed to construct new layout in the last 10 years.
BDA’s inefficiency
The government, pointing out the inability of the BDA to construct housing layouts, blamed it on inadequate infrastructure facilities. Due to lack of infrastructure, houses have not been built in seven layouts of Bangalore. Such layouts include- extended layout of Anjanapura, extended layout of Banashanakari 6th phase, Sir M Visvesvaraya layout, Anjanapura township, Banashankari 6th phase, extended layout of Sir M Visvesvaraya layout and JP Nagar 8th and 9th phases.
Furthermore, the area where BDA have notified land for Arkavathy Layout have emerged as a problematic region. Farmers, on numerous occasions, have denied to part away with their land, since they are not compensated properly.
Notification for new layouts
According to market sources, BDA will soon issue the final notification regarding land possession for the proposed Shivaram Karanth and Kempe Gowda layouts. The BDA has proposed three other layouts Kyasambahalli Chagalaraya Reddy Layout, D Devaraj Urs Layout and S Nijalingappa Layout for which the BDA is leaving no stone unturned to issue notification for land acquisition.
For constructing the Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda Layout, the BDA has issued notifications to acquire 4043 acres and 27 guntas. Due to reasons such as high tech zones, green belt and places of worship, around 77 acres and 28 guntas have not been included in the final notification of BDA for Kempe Gowda Layout.
