Ratan Tata’s retirement house
The country’s most elegant house Cabins is the retirement house of Ratan Tata in the Colaba area of Mumbai. This house is claimed to have the best sea view and was constructed for him to spent his retired life, post his retirement as Tata Group Chairman in December, 2012.
The house is an example of the contemporary architecture with white colored ceiling and walls and huge glass windows. It is a three-storied house, which is further divided into seven levels, covering 13,350 square foot of area and is only twenty minutes’ drive from the Tata Sons headquarters.
The residence has a study room, kitchen, bedroom and living room on the ground floor. The other three floors have two levels – one level has a living room and the second level has bedrooms. The second floor of the house has a living room, a library and three bedrooms. The sun deck is also situated on the second floor and has a bar and barbeque meant as a party area and is able to accommodate around 50 people.
The first level of the third floor has the state-of-the-art media room, a personal gym and a bedroom. The second level of this floor has a sun deck and a swimming pool, this floor seems to be Ratan Tata’s favorite place in the house.
The basement of the bungalow has a servant’s accommodation and parking space for 10-12 cars. The house already has partial occupancy certificate from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. All the other necessary approvals for this construction were issued by the Mumbai Heritage Committee, the Urban Development Department and the Fire Department in 2008 itself.
