Smart City Programme: State to fund Mysuru
Mysuru is set to develop under the smart city programme and the city will get about Rs 500 crore from the state fund. The city is one of the prefered real estate and tourist destinations in the state. It would receive Rs 100 crore every year from the state funds to develop under the smart city programme. Karnataka Minister For Urban Development Vinay Kumar Sorake said poor progress in implementation of the JNNURM scheme was one of the reason which failed to get Mysuru in the list of cities under smart city programme of Union government.
Mysuru is home to various IT companies and is developing as a secondary city to Bangalore. The availability of large land parcels at affordable prices has spiked demand for housing and plots in recent years. The city enjoys good connectivity via road and railways, doubling of track between Bangalore and Mysuru and proposed Bangalore–Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) will improve infrastructure of Mysuru. This will boost Mysuru real estate sector and demand for housing and plots in the city.
Besides being a real estate & tourist destination, it is also one of the cleanest cities in India. The city ranked top in Swachh Bharat rankings in 2015 and may retain its cleanest city tag in the top 10 list.
