Lockdown Day 11: The perfect ways to clean your bathroom

Having a sparkling clean bathroom can be a difficult proposition. While most of us clean our bathrooms periodically yet so few of us are able to achieve the perfect clean and sparkling look. The key to attain the perfect clean bathroom are to effectively clean all parts focusing on each segment. While certain parts like the bathroom floor must be cleaned every week to avoid stubborn stains, other areas like mirrors, bathroom sink and commode need to be cleaned more frequently to get the desired results.

Don’t Ignore Bathroom Tiles: Bathroom tiles are the first ones to get stains and dirt accumulation owing to the constant contact with water. The stains on the bathroom tiles could be even more prominent in people having hard water in their bathrooms. If you have dark colored tiles in your bathroom, it is difficult to identify the stains.

There are many over the counter bathroom tile cleaning agents available in the market. Vinegar is a very good natural cleaning agent for bathroom tiles. Add a small cup of vinegar to a bucket of lukewarm water to clean the bathroom tiles. Rubbing the tiles with a potato peel 15-20 minutes prior to cleaning also helps in removing stubborn stains effectively. While cleaning, take special care for the sides and joints.

Clean Faucets: Bathroom faucets are another essential element that requires regular cleaning. The faucets must be cleaned from the outside as well as any blockages from the inside. The faucets must be cleaned once every two weeks to maintain their luster and shine.

Commode: Cleaning the commode must be a part of your bathroom cleaning manual for an effective germ free bathroom. While there are many commode cleaning solutions available in the market, one can easily use a homemade solution comprising of 500 ml of vinegar along with lemon and salt for effective stain removal. Vinegar is a wonderful cleaning agent that makes sure that the stubborn yellow stains usually found inside the commode are cleaned effectively. Commode must be cleaned at least twice a week to attain the perfect germ free bathroom. And while cleaning, do give special attention to every sides and corners.

Cleaning Mirrors and Windows: Mirrors and windows play a very important role in any bathroom. Mirrors including ones located near the sink or body shaped mirrors located near the dressing section must be cleaned at regular periods. Bathroom windows must be cleaned using an older toothbrush dipped in cleaning solution or soap water solution made in warm water. The stubborn stains often found on the bathroom windows require regular scrubbing and cleaning. Mirrors on the other hand must be cleaned using a specialized mirror cleaning agents and swapped dry with paper.

Curtains and Upholstery: Curtains, hand towels and other upholstery in the bathroom must be changed regularly to enhance the overall cleanliness of the bathroom. A clean bathroom with dirty curtains would undermine all the good work of cleaning the bathroom areas.

There are many bathroom cleaning agents available in the market. Rather than using one cleaning agent for all purposes, the best way is to get your hands on specialist cleaning agents at least once in a year for different areas of the bathroom.
