Thermal Insulation For Apartment

The term thermal insulation can refer either to materials used to reduce the rate of heat transfer, or the methods and processes used to reduce heat transfer. Thermal insulation tends to be most effective in terms of cost savings. Even though the media are screaming ‘energy crisis’ and fuel bills rocket, campaign like green building, save energy, Save Fuel etc, householders still use more fuel than they need to warm their home or apartment. Insulation reduces unwanted heat loss or gain and can decrease the energy demands of heating and cooling systems.

Advantages of Thermal insulation

Thermal insulation of an apartment or building enhances thermal comfort and reduces the rate of heat transfer in the building. Some of advantages of Thermal insulation of building or apartment are as follows.

  1. Home insulation improves desirability and sale value of apartment or home.
  2. Thermal insulation is very effective and will save you a lot of money on reduced bills.
  3. Thermal insulation repels heat in the summer and keeps the cold at bay during the winter.
  4. Insulation is cheap when compared to the money it will save.
  5. Installing proper insulation in residential homes was perhaps one of the most important steps that could be taken to save the world from climate change.
  6. Helps in extending the periods of thermal comfort without reliance on mechanical air-conditioning especially during inter-seasons periods.
  7. Home insulation tends to be most effective in terms of cost savings in climates that have a wide range of annual average temperatures
  8. Thermal insulation materials fixed on inside surface of the room walls prevent condensation on interior walls and ceiling.
  9. The utilization of thermal insulation showed significant improvement on the overall thermal performance of the buildings.
  10. Home insulation is permanent and does not require maintenance, upkeep, or adjustment.

Home insulation is an all round wise investment and all householders are being encouraged by the government to get their homes insulated. Insulation in walls, ceilings and sometimes floors is also desirable in all buildings intended for human use because comfort conditions are more easily achieved. The primary objective in using insulation is to reduce the over-all rate of heat flow, it is also important that the over-all resistance obtained should be uniformly good. Thermal insulation and building design is done in such a way so that entry of heat or sunlight should be minimum in summer and maximum in winter.

Common insulation choices are Batts or Rolls, Rigid Insulation, Reflective Systems, fiberglass, blankets or blown/loose-fill insulation. Foam insulation and fiberglass insulation are among the most common, but you can also get environmentally friendly insulators which are stuffed with recycled paper, plastics and natural oils. A good insulation system will increase the energy efficiency of your house as well. It can even cut the cost of your energy or electricity bill.

The effectiveness of insulation is commonly evaluated by its R-value. However, an R-value does not take into account the quality of construction or local environmental factors for each building. Proper insulation in residential homes was perhaps one of the most important steps that could be taken to save the world from climate change.
