Tips for decorating home with mirrors

Mirrors beautify the internal settings and enhance the visible spaceMirrors are no more part of just dressing tables. Right from traditional aboriginal homes to modern day elite luxury apartments, mirror work has been now used intrinsically a part of the overall home decoration. Mirrors beautify the internal settings and enhance the visible space but due to their reflective capacity. A smaller home can look quite spacious if it is decorated with intelligent mirror work.

Mirror Art: Mirrors were part of Indian royal décor. Bold and gorgeous mirrors were used in the focal points in olden days, for a clever reflection of the light to the interiors. In many palaces mirrors were used as art works as they can create a dramatic effect. Hanging multiple mirrors on a single wall was also very popular and is still used as a bold technique by several interior designers as an art.

Combination of Mirrors: A combination of big and small mirrors can add an element of grace and charm to the overall home décor theme. Rather than having one big mirror, an intelligent combination of various mirror sizes can look far more aesthetic and elegant. The mirrors can be grouped in multi colored frames adding a distinctive awareness empowering an eye catching design.

Mirror Next to the Dining Area: Dining room is one of the most essential areas of any house. Some mirror décor magic can enhance the space here. Using a long mirror that can be either colored or transparent with embedded designs with a backlit light can provide the perfect backdrop for the family to enjoy a heartiest meal together. The backlight lamp and the reflectivity of the mirror work can also be transformed into a romantic dinner evening for the couples.

Mirrors in private gardens: Many houses today has private gardens or terrace gardens. Mirrors placed here facing the open light creates a sparkle to the whole space.

Mirror Work around the Gas Stove: The intelligent use of mirror work is not only limited to living room and dining areas but can also be useful in the Kitchen. Having a well designed mirror around the gas stove allows easy access for cleaning the parts behind the gas stove with equal ease.

Fake Window Perception: While many high end elite home décor stores provide fake mirror furniture giving the impression of a designer furniture, having a fake window is another idea one can embed it one’s home décor plans. They reflect the uniqueness in design and thought process of the home owner to the visitors.

While there are several innovative ways to sue mirrors as a way to enhance overall home decor, there are certain areas which are better off without mirrors. Any mirror and mirror work on the ceiling must be avoided. Mirrors are also not recommended in bedrooms according the ancient science of Feng Shui. Any mirror work must always be planned keeping in view the size of the room. A big mirror in a comparatively small room can create a depth perception that can dampen the decor alarmingly.
