Having a focal point in your apartment creates an appealing ambiance for you as well as your guests.
A focal point generates the tone of the room as well as defines it interesting accents like a beautiful art piece, an accent wall/a signature piece of furniture can create drama and visual poetry in the room.
Fireplace as a focal point:
Clear the fireplace and mount an art piece above the mantel along with a large decorative mirror. In case you do not prefer hang the mirror, you can prop it on the mantelpiece. To enhance the place even further, you can place vases and candles of different sizes.

Most people have apartments with a built-in wall. Perhaps this built in wall can be decorated by using your favorite objects, books, picture frames, craft work and so on. Doing this in your apartment will create an attractive and easy focal point. You can also upgrade your home decor and add innumerable objects of upholstery and furniture of different shapes and sizes. Room colour as focal point:
Choose a wall in your apartment and paint it with a bold colour to make it as the focal point. Ensure that among all the four walls, three walls are similarly painted and the other single wall has a bold colour. In case you do not want t paint, you can always cover three large canvases with the fabric matching your decor style. Wrap the canvas with the fabric then staple it to the back of the canvas.
Window as a focal point:
If you have a picture window, make it a focal point by framing the window and the view by hanging eye-catching curtains made out of simple and elegant fabric. Ensure that the main seating area is in front of the window.
