Urban restructuring is what Pune needs currently
India’s holistic growth has been redefined by Pune’s rapid urbanization that has been unparalleled, on account of the rising number of immigrants. The influx called for major infrastructure redevelopment and upgradation on all counters in the city, including parking facilities, public transport, road connectivity, electricity and water supply. However, Pune’s infrastructure development has fallen off the track.
Unlike other metropolitans, Pune’s growth phase is not a temporary phenomenon. As per market experts, the city will witness expansion, both in terms of interior development and geographical boundaries. However, if the development authorities in the city do not pay heed to the present social and civic infrastructure needs of the city, the growth cycle may eventually crash.
Infrastructure growth on a decline
The infrastructure development in the city is on a visible decline and has hit a roadblock. Although, a number of redevelopment and renewal activities have been recorded in some locations of the city, some initiatives like constructing flyovers to curb traffic congestion and road widening will still be a hard nut to crack for the city.
As per property consultants, the unplanned development model, which is being adhered by the city is one of the primary factors to be avoided. The older areas of the city should be equipped with adequate infrastructure, in terms of modern traffic management, road network along with electric and water supply, before they are thrown open to large-scale development.
Redevelopment is the need of the hour
Home buyers in Pune always have a knack for golden city centre locations, namely Kalyani Nagar, Karve Road and Camp. However, there is an undeniable fact that the redevelopment of the old structures and infrastructure is the need of the hour, since the number of migrants increase every year. Upgrading of infrastructure will go a long way, in making people’s life better than ever.
Due to the easy connectivity to crucial areas of the city, inner city locations such as Kothrud, Deccan Gymkhana, Prabhat Road, Sahakar Nagar etc. will continue to top the list of the most preferred areas in Pune. However, complete saturation of such areas leaves no scope other than redevelopment. As per property consultants, redevelopment injects new vibrancy in an area and gives the locality a complete makeover that was long needed.
