After Visakhapatnam, it is the second largest city in Andhra Pradesh with an area of approximately 61.88 sq.km. As per the 2011 census, the city has a population of about 1,048,240. It comprises 3 per cent of Krishna district’s total geographical area and about 33 per cent of the district’s population. The GDP of the city is about $4 billion and is expected to grow to about $17 billion (1,02,000 crore) by 2025.
