VUDA to undertake development of another 100-ft road project
With the objective of improving the connectivity of the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region (VMR), the development of another 100-ft Master Plan road has been taken up by the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) in the Madhurawada zone.
Lok Ayukta directs VUDA to formulate Master plan:
Incidentally, there is a long-standing demand from the locals for a wider road along this stretch. They had also approached the Lok Ayukta with regards to the development of a wider road so as to improve connectivity. Moreover, the Lok Ayukta had also directed the VUDA to initiate action on the formation of a new Master Plan for the development of a 100-ft road in this zone. As per the plan, the proposed road is set to connect the AH-45 at the Durga theatre junction with the Bakkannapalem junction. The entire stretch of this road would be about 1.8 km.
GVMC entrusted task of finalising plan for project:
In order to initiate construction on the proposed road, the VUDA vice-chairman has requested the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) officials to finalise the plan for the development of this road. However, there are many issues that are yet to be resolved before work can be initiated. They include issues like the shifting of electric poles, the settlement of Transferable Development Rights of those likely to lose their land due to road widening.
Land owners seek compensation from VUDA:
Meanwhile, many of the local farmers and landowners who are likely to lose a portion of their land as a result of this project have met the Vice-Chairman of VUDA and sought compensation for the land they would have to forgo. The Vice-Chairman has assured them that a meeting would be convened so as to sort out issues in this regard.
VUDA Vice-chairman inspects other projects in pipeline:

They include the Kommadi village road that is expected to be completed by January 15th, 2014, the ongoing road work at Ganesh Nagar as well as the completed road project at Bhindra Nagar, opposite the cricket stadium
