What to do when guests overstay?
We all love to have guests at our homes. Sometimes it can be some friends who feel lonely and are in need of you, or some other times, an aunt and uncle comes in as their son/daughter is out of town. It can be fun having guests at your place but what happens when they overstay? It can be horrific and awkward for you!
Here are some tips to manage friends and family members at your apartment by making sure that the staying go smoothly with your house guests.
Permission from others in the house
If you have roommates make sure you take their permission before inviting your family or friends. Inform them that few of your friends or family will be coming and also inform their staying dates. Make sure that they are comfortable with your guests coming in.
Assurance from guests
Call your guests and ask them how long they are planning to stay and give them a clear view about your house rules. E.g. what time the gate closes, about parking of vehicles and the basic rules of your apartment complex.
Expectation of guests
Ask your guests whether they expect you to pick them from the airport/train station? Will they need your transportation if they want to take a tour in your city or will they use public transport? These are vital things that you need to confirm with your guests. Also make sure that your work schedule doesn’t get affected due to their visiting.
Assign rooms and work
After deciding the number of members, assign rooms for them. Also make sure that if you want your guests to help you in households things such as washing dishes and clothes.
Note: You should have clean towels ready for your guests, giving used towel is a very rude gesture.
Food and drinks
Arrange food and drinks beforehand. Decide the menu based on your guests favourite cuisines.
These are the basic rules which you can follow while you have guests at your home. Have happy time with your guests!
