World Cup 2015: 10 tips to enjoy in your Community

Cricket World CupUnless you have been living in a cave, chances are that you may have been part of the Indian celebrations as the team kicked off their world cup campaign with a win over rivals Pakistan. With the ICC cricket world cup slowly gaining momentum, things are likely to heat up as the tournament reaches its business end. Unlike the last tournament which was played in India, if you are feeling left out due to the tournament being played far away in Australia and New Zealand, here are ten tips to make sure you enjoy this world cup like never before.

Support a Team: What’s a world cup without supporting a team? It does not have to be India alone and you can support a new team for each match. Invite your friends over to view the match especially those cheering for the opposite team. There is no greater fun than watching the math with a supporter of the opposition team.

Watch in big screen: Unless you are a very private person, world cup is a time to organize collective viewing. You can organize a community joint viewing in your society on weekends or on big match days. There is no beating the fun to watch a world cup match on a big screen with collective cheering.

Wear the Jersey of Your Favorite Team: Wear the jersey of your favorite team and show the way to your peers and friends. Team jerseys are available at various stores and online websites. Order one for your favorite team and walk your favorite team colors with pride.

Organize Apartment Cricket World Cup: World cup does not have to be between the official teams and you can organize a community world cup in your residential society as well. There is nothing better to hit the winning runs in a tournament that runs along with the official world cup. So get that perfect out swing going or get ready to hit the ball far.

Predict and Win: It is a good idea to organize ‘predict and win’ competition for each match and winners can be given points. At the end of the world cup, the person getting the maximum predictions right can be facilitated with a nice prize.

Share Pictures: Share pictures of previous world cups or this world cup in case any of your friends plan to visit any match in person. You can use social media to share pictures with your family and friends to usher in a cricket oriented discussion on your social media page.

Organize World Cup Poster/Painting Competition: World cup can mean increased passions and use this energy to start a poster or painting competition in your community. It is a good idea to keep various age brackets for the poster making competition and offer prizes for the most innovative ones.

Plan a Female Cricket Quiz: If you thought cricket is only followed by the men, think again. Women follow the sport as much as men do and it is a good idea to have a women only cricket quiz before and after each match to allow for a collective festive atmosphere.

Have a Consolation Prize for Each participant: Make sure you plan a consolation prize for each participant so that everyone feels a part of the world cup festivities and not the winners alone.

Enjoy the Sport: Last but not the least, it is a sport and just like players play it in full sportsman spirit be magnanimous is victory or defeat and always enjoy the game irrespective of the result.
