Decorate your puja room for Diwali
Diwali, a festival which is celebrated all over India irrespective of caste, creed and religion, is round the corner. People mainly look to decorate their pooja room to make it look neat and elegant in order to make way for Goddess Lakshmi.
During Diwali, people worship Goddess Lakshmi to get her blessings as she is considered as the goddess of wealth and prosperity. Along with Lakshmi, Kuber’s and Indra’s pooja also takes place as they guards goddess Lakshmi’s wealth.
To welcome Goddess Lakshmi, your house especially the pooja room should be cleaned and properly decorated with lights and diyas and have pooja materials.
Things needed in Pooja Room:
Idols of different deities are kept for worship in the pooja room. These idols are basically made of silver or clay or chrome frames. Other than idols, for daily rituals, items like vermilion, incense, camphor, flowers, etc are also kept in the pooja room. Pooja room should be east facing, according to vastu shastra. Pooja room is also used for meditation by many people. It is strongly advised that even if you are having a space crunch at your home, there should be a separate space kept for pooja room.
According to vastu, Pooja room should be coloured in earthly colours and the door to the pooja room should be made of wood. To make it more traditional, temple can be made in your home and can match the temple material with your flooring material and colour. If you have marble flooring, build a temple of white marble, which itself shows positive energy. Even white wood, a combination of wood and silver can be a good choice for material.
Diwali special bonanza:
During Diwali, the first and foremost thing should be present for decoration is diyas and candles. Get a sculptured mandir for goddess Lakshmi this year. Since it celebrates the triumph of good over evil, so the whole room should be filled with lights. The traditional decoration for Diwali is the rangoli on the floor with different kinds colours. But this year you can change the regular rangoli to flowery rangoli by using flowers and diyas in between, instead of colours to give a new look to the rangoli.
The doors of the pooja room could be attached with tiny brass bells. Few decorative bells and bandhanwar in red beads and floral arrangements embellished with danglers can be put up. Do keep diyas on window panes and door conners which is spiritual as well as a good idea to welcome guests.
Let’s welcome this Diwali with special rituals followed by Lakshmi pooja. Decorate your pooja room traditionally and spread love and happiness. Happy Diwali!
